Acknowledging the Pain, Finding the Way Forward

There are no words that can fully express how much it hurts to know what you’ve been through. The fact that someone could hurt you so deeply weighs on my heart just to think about it. It brings sorrow to my soul to know that you have been sexually abused.
Where do we even begin in an area so confusing, messy, and painful?

My Story

I’ve been where you are. During one of the darkest seasons of my life, I reached out to my best friend because I had nowhere else to turn. At the time, I was being stalked and felt trapped in confusion and fear. He was the only person who seemed to be there for me, and I thanked God every day for his support, believing it was the only thing keeping me going. But what began as comfort and trust slowly turned into something harmful, he began to groom me.
Grooming is when a person builds trust with a vulnerable person to take advantage of them sexually.
One evening I mysteriously became weak, the room started to go dark, and I stumbled to the closest empty bed I could get to. Later that night he took advantage of me. His actions changed my life and it took years of therapy to begin to heal from the deep level of trust that was broken. I share this story purely to say that I get it.

The Reality

And even though you’ve tried to stop, you’ve felt that powerless pull that keeps you going back. You see what this is doing, but you can’t undo it alone.

That’s not just a statistic, it’s a measure of how many people, like me, are carrying secret pain, shame, and fear.

A Space for You

I’m here to walk alongside you on this road to healing, even when it doesn’t make sense. I’m here to listen, to encourage, and to be patient. I want to hear the parts that feel too scary to say out loud. I want to help you process them, understand them, and heal from them.
Life can be messy and unfair. Often it doesn’t make sense. It can feel full of pain, betrayal, and confusion. Questions like “How could God allow this to happen?” or “If He loved me, why would this happen?” are real, and it’s okay to bring them here.

How I Help

Sometimes we use narrative therapy. We’ll work on retelling and even rewriting your story. Other times we’ll focus on cognitive therapy. Focusing on the thoughts, words, and phrases that are hurtful and need mending. Sometimes we’ll work on you reconnecting with yourself and defining what a safe person is. At times we might focus on exposure therapies.
